President's Message

2008 has been a truly eventful year. The Lawyers' Movement for the Rule of Law, Supremacy of the Constitution and Independence of Judiciary continued unabated with full force and vigour. Yet its voice was not heard in the corridors of power in Islamabad.

The National Coordination Council has announced a Long March and Sit-in for 09 March 2009, the anniversary of the day the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry refused to bow before a dictator and provided the Lawyers of Pakistan with an opportunity to stand up and be counted.

Preparations for the Long March and the Sit-in in front of the Parliament are in hand. Pre-Long March Conventions are being held. The Lahore High Court Bar Association has, under its dynamic Secretary, Rana Asadullah Khan, launched a campaign for ten million signatures to remind our Parliament of its duty to the people who have elected it.

There will be Rule of Law in Pakistan because her people have decided to establish it. We invite all fellow citizens to join this struggle for a better Pakistan for our children.
