R E S O L U T I O N

Lahore High Court Bar Association, Lahore.

The members of the Lahore High Court Bar Association are seriously concerned about the current stalemate regarding the appointment of judges against the existing vacancies of the Lahore High Court. Irrelevant controversy regarding consultees from the executive branch of government is causing needless delay in these appointments. Due to this delay, administration of justice is suffering and worries of litigants are increasing.

 It appears that this unnecessary controversy has been created by design to frustrate the dispensation of justice to the litigant public, thereby damaging the image of the Bar and the Bench in the society which had worked tirelessly for the restoration of the independent judiciary during the lawyers' movement.

We urge the consultees to expeditiously forward the names of those who are known to be persons of integrity, knowledge and who command the respect of legal fraternity. To ascertain as to who are suitable, necessary consultation may be held with stake holders before sending final proposals. The entire process must be completed before 10^th. September, 2009 as the High Court is due to open on the 14^th. September, 2009.
