Sometimes Pain Brings on Changes
My father needed to be transported to a chiropractor after an injury that he had at home. He had a little bit too much to drink one day and fell in the kitchen. It’s a good thing that he didn’t hit his head or he would be needing much more than a chiropractor. I looked for chiropractor locations on the Internet, out of the locations for Cumming chiropractors, three were the close enough to my home that I could get there in less than 15 minutes. I made an appointment and I drove my father to one of the chiropractors in the morning.
My father didn’t injure himself too badly, but he would need to rest and take some medication, which couldn’t be mixed with any alcohol. My father shrugged it off like it was nothing, saying that he could go a while without drinking. Later that day at dinner, he was ready to open a beer, but I reminded him that he couldn’t drink any alcohol. The lack of alcohol was starting to get to him. He would have cravings more often as the time passed. I had to get rid of the alcohol that was still in the home so my father wouldn’t be tempted.
Although it was agonizing for my father, he was able to make it through his recovery period without drinking any alcohol. Once he was given a clean bill of health from the chiropractor, he headed to the store to buy a six pack of beer to celebrate. Once he got home, he didn’t feel like drinking the beer anymore. I didn’t expect him to stop drinking so soon, but I guess something in him changed. I don’t mind him drinking a little bit from time to time, but not so much that he hurts himself.
